EFFECT:

A briefcase is opened and shown to be empty. It's then closed, turned upside down, opened again and a bowling ball drops out of the case.

ALTERNATIVE EFFECT

A briefcase is placed on a table and shown to be empty. A bowling ball or a bowl of live goldfish can then be produced from the case.
